Description

My pokemon gijinka Sakana depicted as Goddess Hera, for a event at #PokePlatform

Really happy with this  Used a lot of time to get this done, because i was insicure about how to start the coloring. But now it's finally done!
The task was to take my own character Sakana and present her as a greek goddess.

Hope you like it! And critique is very appreciated! :D

:bulletblue: Sakana - gijinka of the pokemon Goldeen.

:bulletblue: Hera - the goddess of marriage and birth. Married to Zevs, the king of the Greek gods.

Hera is often potrayed as a majestic, solemn woman with a crown and lotus-staff. Her sacred animal is the peacock (symbol of pride) and the pomegrenate (symbol of marriage) is often dedicated to her. (The pomegrenate can be seen in the circle around her head).

:bulletblue: Style - Art Nouveau, inspired by artist Alphonse Mucha.

Oh cool! What a nice tribute to Mr. Mucha. You certainly captured his style with the wardrobe, the bold outlines, and the framework. The posture of Sakana is very simple, but it works. I'm very glad that you used reference for the face and dress, and it really shows. That peacock is an excellent touch too, although I wish you'd gone an extra length to extend some tail feathers to the left side--because right now it seems to disappear into oblivion.

While you got most of Sakana's anatomy right, her right hand has to be the biggest error in the image. Make the hand larger, the thumb smaller, add an extra finger, and everything will fall into place.

If you're still feeling ambitious with this piece, and REALLY want to get Mucha's style down, definitely add more to the framework. I've seen that format in a few of his paintings before, BUT! You have an awful lot of surrounding white space. In most of Mucha's paintings, not much white is left in the background. He's pretty damn good about filling in most of the space, to the point of where it interacts with the figure (for example: [link]).

If this drawing already ate what stamina you had left, then you could probably crop out some of the white. If not, experiment! You'll be surprised to what you'll find.
